LOS ANGELES— Amidst a growing buzz throughout the DJ community, American Audio has announced that its long-awaited VMS4 Velocity MIDI Station, a 4-channel MIDI controller, will be available in July. Billed as the ultimate performance tool for today’s working DJs, the VMS4 is an amazingly versatile piece of gear that offers 4 selectable MIDILOG™ (MIDI or analog channels), so it can be used with a computer for digital DJ-ing or as a regular mixer without a computer. The VMS4’s adaptability extends to software too. The unit comes bundled with popular Virtual DJ LE software, so DJs can get up and running right out of the box. The VMS4 is not only versatile — it’s affordable. Although packed with features, it has a street price of under $500 (MSRP $699.95). This is an incredible value for a 4-channel unit that comes with Virtual DJ LE software included, along with 2 jog wheels, a built-in mousepad that allows DJs to make all of their selections right from the top of the unit, and 2 microphone channels with gain/treble/mid/bass EQs. Each of the mixer’s four channels is fortified with gain, treble, mid and bass controls. All of the audio control faders, knobs, switches, and buttons are smoothed, meaning no popping, wiper noise, or zipper noise. Among the VMS4’s other MIDI features are: 50 LED illuminated buttons (including 18 with dual blue/red LEDs), 34 assignable rotary controllers, 5 assignable linear fader controllers, 4 assignable rotary encoders, long-life MIDI-assignable touch strips, two 10-bit resolution pitch sliders, 62 assignable MIDI buttons and switches, dual MIDI controls on all buttons and switches, and dual 2000 point resolution touch-sensitive turntable search controllers.

In addition to its many MIDI features, the VMS4 delivers some sweet-sounding audio options. Those include the ability to use it with sound cards; 24-bit 48 kHz of analog audio; 16-bit 44.1 kHz USB audio; 10-bit resolution on all analog fader controls; and selectable USB modes; 4 in 4 out mode for running software effects on phono/line analog channels, or 2 in 8 out mode for running 4 software channels and master recording. All buttons on the VMS4 illuminate in dark environments and only take 2 msecs to respond to a DJ’s touch (4 msec response on all rotary and linear faders).

KERKRADE, THE NETHERLANDS – True to its longstanding tradition as a DJ-centric company, American DJ Europe has tapped a well-respected DJ to be the area sales manager of its southern United Kingdom sales district. The company named the popular Simon Fletcher to this position after an extensive search of possible candidates.

Fletcher will be responsible for looking after the sales of the American DJ family of products in his region. As part of his job, he will be visiting dealers on a regular basis and building relationships with them. He will also be interacting with the DJ community in the UK at shows and events, and soliciting feedback on how the company’s products can best meet their needs.

An amateur DJ since the age of 13, Fletcher worked as a sales executive for a number of international companies in the UK until eight years ago, when he left to pursue his DJ-ing career. As a DJ, Fletcher has worked at some of the most prestigious venues in the south and west UK, including a wedding at the estate where one of the Harry Potter movies was filmed, and an MTV Celebrity Party. He describes the latter as a “surreal gig – I was playing tracks while the people who wrote and recorded some of them were in the audience.”

Now that he is returning to the “business world,” Fletcher is excited to be doing so as part of American DJ. “I’ve been a friend of the American DJ family for nearly two years now and have been lucky enough to meet most of the global team,” he said.  “I’m looking forward to being part of a solid group of people who are passionate about their products and their customers. As a DJ, I’ve used products from American DJ and American Audio, like the new VMS4 — and I truly believe in them.”

In announcing Fletcher’s appointment, Dirk Kast, General Manager for ADJ Group, Europe noted “We are very excited to have Simon on board; his passion for music and DJ-ing and his understanding of what it’s like to be a DJ, really embodies what American DJ is all about.”

For me as a DJ, this is the company that I watch to see where I will be taking my mobile show next. Double Glory ADJ Honored With DJ Zone and MMR Awards

Ok, so winning isn’t everything, but it sure feels nice; so we were doubly pleased recently to be presented with not one, but two prestigious awards: The DJ Zone Crystal Disc and the MMR Dealer’s Choice. Both prizes are extra special to us because they were the result of voting by the people who actually use and sell our products. This tells us we’re doing a good job in the real world, which means much more than being selected by some ivory tower panel of experts!

The editors of DJ Zone surveyed websites, forum posts, emails and personal interviews to find the lighting company that “excelled in innovation, ease of use, creativity and most of all customer satisfaction and service.” This search led them to ADJ. Hey; we could have saved them time and told them that at the start! But in all seriousness, we’re honored by the recognition from a website; we spend a lot of time visiting ourselves.

“Serving the working DJ is the core principle that our company has been built on,” said ADJ General Manager Scott Davies. “So having our hard work recognized by these DJs gives us a great sense of satisfaction; we could ask for no better honor.”

Many of those DJs buy our products from music dealers, which makes winning the 2010 MMR Dealer’s Choice Award extra special to us too. An internationally recognized trade magazine serving the music and entertainment products industry, MMR reaches over 8,000 dealers in the US.

“Dealers are in a unique position to tell us how well we’re doing as a supplier,” said Alfred Gonzales, National Sales Manager of American DJ. “They’re the ones who often hear about it first if there’s a quality issue with a product; and they’re also the first ones who can tell you how well a product is being received by end-users. So it means a great deal to us that American DJ has won the Dealer’s Choice Award with such regularity in recent years.”

For Gonzales, the award reaffirms that American DJ’s investment in research and development, along with its strict quality control standards, have paid off. “It’s always nice to be recognized, but the thing I like most about this award is that it shows us that our popular products like the Revo Series, X-Move Series, Accu Series, X-Move and new Vizi Series are not only popular, but are performing reliably too.”

Elation Presents the 2009 Elation Education Experience Award (E3) to California’s Thomas Pendergrass

LOS ANGELES, CA – Elation Professional, a supplier of professional architectural and entertainment lighting products, presented its annual Elation Education Experience Award (E3) to Thomas Pendergrass of Rancho Santa Margarita, California, at the recent LDI Expo in Orlando, Florida.  Elation Professional created E3 in 2006 to encourage young lighting designers to pursue careers in the House of Worship (HOW) market.

While at the LDI Expo, Pendergrass had the opportunity to speak with House of Worship lighting experts and learn more about the field.  He also received a private tour of the Elation booth and had dinner with Elation executives.

Pendergrass was selected because of his dedication and talent in the field of lighting design.  “We developed the E3 contest to enable young LD’s and students to see the opportunities that exist in the House of Worship market,” said Eric Loader, Director of Marketing.  “Thomas Pendergrass’ work is exceptional and we are honored to present him with this years’ award.  Thomas has a bright future in the HOW market and it is because of young designers like him that the future of our industry is in good hands.”

The E3 competition is an annual event open to any lighting design student, any lighting designer with less than 3 years of professional experience, or any volunteer or part-time assistants working in lighting at a House of Worship.
